Ask the INTJ: How Do I Appear More Charismatic and Likeable?
Hello!! The INTJ is back!! Today, I'm a posting an answer to FAQ's that friends and readers have asked me. Let's begin! We'll call this series: Ask the INTJ. ________________________________________________________________________ Dear INTJ, How do I appear more charismatic and likeable? I'm a hardcore INTJ. Sometimes, I get these vibes from people as if they dislike me. But it's inconvenient when I need the other person to work together with me on projects and such. Thanks, -S.H.Y. INTJ ________________________________________________________________________ Dear S.H.Y. INTJ, Interesting question and no worries! INTJs can be quite shy and appear emotionless or distant. The other party mistakes it for dislike or arrogance. Here are some tips that might help: 1) Smile. I know INTJ's sometimes forget to smile especially when we're lost in our thoughts while analyzing the situation. 2) Notice something good about the other and compliment them on it. Switch away from skeptical, discerning mode. 3) Go with the flow and talk out aloud about your thoughts on the project or what you think of their ideas. It lets them know that you're taking their ideas into consideration. Sincerely, the INTJ So we INTJs have a tendency to work really really hard (besides the occasional Internet surfing.) Stay up for hours without eating or drinking and working on a project until it's done. Or we might procrastinate in our quest for perfection. These are some tips that I use to help me do both --work hard and have fun.
1) Schedule all work to be finished by a set time each day. Leave no exceptions. I set my cell phone's alarm clock to ring at hourly increments to warn me that 5:00 PM, my set time to finish all work, is approaching. This reminds me of my goal and keeps me on track. 2) Work hard. When working, focus completely without distractions. Turn off all electronic devices, except the items necessary to complete the tasks. When I'm penning a paper, I turn off my iPhone, iPod, and Internet access. 3) Plan a fun activity to do after the set time. It gives us incentive to finish working with focused energy so that we can have a good time afterward. Schedule in time to work out at the gym with friends or watch a movie. Every day, I hike up the trails with my friends, and every other week, I plan to attend a night concert with them. 4) Play hard. Don't think about work. Have a good time. Bring friends for a bowling game, go-kart racing, golfing, hiking, or playing basketball. 5) Laugh. It gives our hearts an extra dose of life to work hard and play hard. Now, INTJ, go for it! |
